Wonderfully Made Nature Day at LCS: A Celebration of Creation and Community
On a bright and joy-filled spring day, students at Lanham Christian School (LCS) came together for one of the most anticipated events of the year—Wonderfully Made Nature Day. Rooted in Ephesians 2:10, this school-wide celebration reminded us that “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
From our youngest learners in K4 to our high school seniors in 12th grade, every student played a part in making the day a vibrant, interactive, and inspiring experience. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
Balloon Man & Elementary Joy
K4 through 5th-grade students were amazed by a live Balloon Man Presentation in the Chapel. With laughter and awe filling the room, students saw creativity come to life through balloon art and interactive storytelling.
Planting & Gardening (6th–8th Grade)
Middle school students got their hands dirty—in the best way—by participating in a planting and gardening project. Guided by Mrs. Alexander, Ms. Byrd, and volunteer parent Ms. Evan Michelle Butler, students learned about sustainability and teamwork through hands-on activity.
High School Upcycled Fashion Show
In one of the most anticipated parts of the day, high school students turned recycled materials like plastic bottles, newspapers, and duct tape into runway-ready outfits. The Upcycled Fashion Show was a powerful (and fun) reminder of the beauty of reuse and creativity in action.

Campus-Wide Clean-Up
All students joined forces in a school-wide clean-up, showing love for their environment by beautifying specific areas of the campus. Gloves, rakes, and teamwork transformed our grounds in just a few hours.
Rocket Launch & Butterfly Release
Excitement soared as 6th–8th graders launched homemade rockets using water bottles and recycled materials. Meanwhile, K4–5th graders witnessed the miracle of metamorphosis with a butterfly release and enjoyed the peaceful joy of kite flying.
Teacher Relay Race
In a moment of pure fun, our teachers dressed in blow-up animal costumes and raced across the field as students cheered them on. The winner received a prize—and bragging rights—for the week!
Picnic Lunch, Treats & Dunk Tank
To close the day, students rotated through a picnic lunch, ICEE treat station, and the ever-popular dunk tank, where administrators took the plunge (with good humor!).
From laughter to learning, Wonderfully Made Nature Day was a meaningful reminder that we are created on purpose, for a purpose—and that purpose includes caring for God’s creation and one another. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and students who made the day unforgettable!
